Passover Chocolate Nut Torte

  • 6 eggs separated
  • 1 1/2 cups of sugar
  • 1 cup of chopped walnuts
  • 4 oz. semi sweet chocolate(grated)
  • 2 yellow "Delicious" apples - peeled & grated
  • 1/2 cup of Matzo Meal

Beat egg yolks with sugar until lemon colored and thick.
Gently stir in nuts, chocolate, apples and matzo meal.
Beat egg whites until they form stiff peaks but are not dry.
Fold into egg yolk mixture gently but thoroughly.
Turn mixture into a 9 inch spring form pan and bake 55 minutes at 350 degrees or until cake springs back when pressed lighlty with your fingers.
Cool in pan.
